This is why seasoned internet marketers always say again and again that "The Money Is In The List". Without a list, quiet simply, you have no business. Of course there are times when you can sell your products or services through the internet without using a list but by doing this, you are not doing a business, instead, you are just being a common salesperson living day-to-day doing the same routine.
I believe you will all agree that our desire to be successful in internet marketing is to build a system that works 24 hours non-stop selling our products and services and a big list is indeed an integral part of that system.
I will not get into details on how to set up a list building system in this post because I believe if you have been reading this far, you would have known a little bit of what I am talking about or might even have your own list building system. But if you have not build your list yet, then check out my list building for beginners guide.
If you have checked out the guide or have established a list building system of your own, then you know the next big task is to get subscribers, lots of them, into your list. To get highly targeted list will cost you time and money but you are doing a business after all and every businessperson know that a successful business needs investments.
My main source of subscribers come from buying solo ads. A solo ad is an advertisement space you buy from a big list owner. You contact the big list owners directly asking for their rate to display solo ads on their newsletters. Once you make your payment, they will advertise your site to their huge list of subscribers. These solo ad providers usually provide guaranteed clicks to your websites but not conversion. But if your offer suits their subscriber base needs, then you'll get mostly between 40-60 percent of conversion. That means if you buy 100 clicks, then you might gain 40-60 new subscribers at the very least.
You need to be very careful when buying solo ads because not all solo ad providers are trustworthy. If you wish to buy solo ad, then I suggest you check out Reed Floren's Solo Ad Directory. Reed personally bought the solo ads from different providers himself, tried them and gave out his full reviews and results. Choose from Reed's list which one meet your criteria and budget.
Unfortunately, all of Reed's solo ad reviews are for the internet marketing niche solo ad, then how do you buy solo ads for other niches, such as health, weight-loss or personal development? There is a service called Safe Swaps. This service allows you to look for solo ad providers in various niches and you can directly see the people's responses and reviews.
Safe Swaps comes in two membership types: free and paid. With a free membership, you can still be able to swap or to buy ads with certain limitations. Under the paid service, you will be able to do more swaps than free members. The paid service cost you US$29.99 per month but if you pay for a one-year membership, you will be receiving two months of discount and only need to pay US$289.99 in total.
Another good place to find solo ad partners is at the Warrior Forum Classified section. You can look for many solo ad providers advertising their services and check out people's direct response.
After buying solo ads, the next method to build highly targeted list quickly is by using pay per click (ppc) advertising. If you have a content-rich website with a lead-capture form ready, you can use Google Adwords to advertise your site and gets interested visitors to subscribe. If you want to know how to use Adwords to effectively promote your sites to interested prospects, you can read my previous Google Adwords guide for newbies.
If your website is only a simple squeeze page with little content, then I suggest you not to use Adwords for your ppc advertising campaign. Google hates squeeze page with a passion for some unknown reasons. There are ppc alternatives that you can use such as 7search and Bidvertiser.
Another method to build your list will not cost you money, but it will take a lot of time and I am talking about guest blogging. Guest blogging is when you post an article to a blog belongs to a well-known blogger. Guest blogging can be very effective because you practically ride on the well-known bloggers' authority to influence their audience.
Guest blogging, however, has not been easy as it used to be due to the large amount of spamming guest bloggers that only want to put their links on other people's blogs without giving values. Famous bloggers nowadays impose stricter rules for people who want to be guest bloggers and sometimes a submission could take weeks before being approved.
You can also utilize the power of Yahoo Answers to promote your squeeze page and get subscribers. By answering people's questions and putting in your website in the Yahoo Answers' resource box, you practically promote your business to millions of eyes. However, this method also needs some cautions from your side. Make sure that the website you promote is relevant with the question being asked otherwise people will mark you as spam and your Yahoo Answers account can be terminated.
